ABSTRACT

Objective To learn the mortality and trend of lung cancer among Longyou residents, and to provide scientific basis for comprehensive prevention and control of lung cancer. Methods Data from the surveillance of lung cancer mortality among Longyou residents from 2010 to 2016 were collected. Crude mortality rate, standardized mortality rate of lung cancer (standardized by the 2010 national census data), potential years of life lost rate (PYLLR) and standard potential years of life lost rate (SPYLLR) were calculated. Descriptive analysis was conducted in the gender, age distribution and potential life loss caused by lung cancer. Results From 2010 to 2016, there were 1555 cases of lung cancer in Longyou County, with a mortality rate of 48.17/100000 and a standardized mortality rate of 38.05/100000, ranking first among the deaths of malignant tumors. The mortality rate of lung cancer increased year by year (P<0.01) .The annual mortality rate of males lung cancer was 72.05/ 100000, higher than that of females (P<0.001) .The mortality rate of males with lung cancer increased year by year (P<0.01), with an average annual growth rate of 4.69%. The annual growth rate of females with lung cancer mortality was 2.49%, but there was no significant increase (P>0.05) .Lung cancer mortality increased with age (P<0.001), of which 1243 cases died of lung cancer, accounting for 79.94% of total lung cancer deaths. The potential life loss of lung cancer from 2010 to 2016 was 12471 person-years, with PYLLR of 4.41‰and SPYLLR of 3.72‰. The SPYLLR of males with lung cancer was 5.31‰ and that of females was 1.95‰. Conclusion The mortality rate of Lung cancer among residents in Longyou County has been increasing, which mainly endangers people over 60 years old. The mortality rate and PYLLR of males with lung cancer are higher than that of females.

ABSTRACT

Objective To compare and analyze the volatile oil content and fingerprint of 18 batches of Curcuma Longa Radix, so as to provide evidence for its quality control. Methods The content of volatile oil was extracted and determined by steam distillation. At the same time, the fingerprint of the volatile oil of Curcuma Longa Radix was established by GC, and the characteristic peaks of the fingerprint were determined by GC-MS. Similarity evaluation, hierarchical clustering analysis, and principal component analysis was used to investigate fingerprints of 18 batches of Curcuma Longa Radix. Results GC fingerprint of Curcuma Longa Radix was established and 22 common peaks were designated. The results of similarity evaluation, hierarchical clustering analysis and principal component analysis showed that the fingerprints of different batches of Curcuma Longa Radix had similarities and characteristics, and there were some differences among different habitats and the same origin. Conclusion This study provides a comprehensive and effective evaluation method for the quality control of Curcuma Longa Radix.

ABSTRACT

Objective·To explore the effects of ubiquitin protein ligase E3C (UBE3C) on proliferation and invasion in epithelial ovarian cancer SKOV3 cells. Methods?·?Western blotting was used to detect the expression difference of UBE3C in epithelial ovarian cancer cell lines and normal ovarian cell lines. SKOV3 cells were transfected with si-UBE3C to knockdown UBE3C protein level, while ex-UBE3C plasmid was used to upregulate the expression of UBE3C. Cell proliferation was measured by CCK-8 assay and colony formation assay. Wound healing assay and Transwell assay were performed to investigate the effect of UBE3C on migration and invasion. Protein levels of β-catenin and c-Myc were also detected in different groups, which were closely related to proliferation and invasion. Results?·?UBE3C was highly expressed in epithelial ovarian cancer cell lines. UBE3C was successfully silenced with si-UBE3C transfection in SKOV3 cells. Inhibition of UBE3C significantly weakened the abilities of cell proliferation, migration and invasion. A reduction of β-catenin and c-Myc protein levels was also accompanied by UBE3C knockdown. Overexpression of UBE3C with ex-UBE3C plasmid promoted the abilities of proliferation, migration and invasion. Enhanced expression levels of β-catenin and c-Myc were also verified. Conclusion?·?UBE3C promotes proliferation and invasion of epithelial ovarian cancer SKOV3 cells. This might be to do with upregulation of β-catenin and c-Myc protein levels.
